Trail Center Volunteering - Manorville, NY

Bob Beattie continues to recruit weekend volunteers. I stopped by with some bags of mulch to work on a landscaping cleanup project.

Trail Center Volunteering - Manorville, NY

Weekend volunteering, Bob and I tackled an erosion control project in the outside space. Quality Parks donated 4 bags of natural cedar mulch (I think also good against ticks). Our labor included digging a trench for water run off and spreading out mulch. The area we filled in also improved the look of the site, near the BBQ pit.

If you get out there before I do, let me know how our mulching project held up after Monday and Tuesday's rainy weather.

Before we got to walking, I drove down to the nearby shopping center, filled with food, and other retailers, including doctors, gas stations, and a grocery store. It's actually within walking distance and I have yet to try walking. Funny how Long Island's shopping centers end up being a town center. There's no downtown Manorville, but this works fine. I got to chat with some of the food vendors, letting them know about the nearby trail center.

Bob will be scheduling some early morning and evening walks. I'm hoping to schedule some Quality Parks meetings on Pine Barrens Personhood and invasive species control. We're both looking into having some kind of leave a book take a book little free library. He's also working on Wednesday evening music for those who want to experience lyrical Pine Barrens enchantment.

On a personal note, I'm thinking of ways to better convey Ray's presence at the Trail Center. What's up there now on the bulletin board, well, that's the saddest part of the Trail Center for me. Maybe like the Quality Parks website? A Tribute to Ray
