Riverhead Free Library Plants a Bee Friendly Pollinator Garden

Last June, the Riverhead Free Library and Quality Parks made this pollinator garden with bee friendly plants a success. All plants were locally grown by me, under Quality Parks, as the grower and nursery manager. At the Riverhead Library Board Trustee meeting, Trustee Eileen Mackey presented the garden design, and was very pleased at the cost and quality of the plants.
Plants were staged at the entrance of the Riverhead Free Library. The plants included a variety of asters and milkweeds, and other natives selected for color, shade to sun tolerance, pollinator benefit, spread and height characteristics, and soil conditions. Parsley and thyme were also planted for butterfly benefit.
