LIGTC regains Trail Center in Manorville, NY
Recently announced by the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference, the Trail Center will be renamed to reflect broader pine barrens, sportspersons, and outdoor recreational pursuits.
Recently announced by the Long Island Greenbelt Trail Conference in their Spring Footnotes newsletter, the Trail Center will be renamed to reflect broader regional interests beyond trails to include all kinds of recreational pursuits in Suffolk County Parks and the pine barrens to include information on hunting, hiking, boating, bicycling, fishing, nature ecology, photography, and much more. Not merely a drive through on the way to the Hamptons and Montauk the renamed Trail Center will also give many reasons to hang out and explore the pine barrens.
In similar ways, just as the Pine Barrens Trail connects Rocky Point to Montauk Point, the renamed Trail Center will connect you to Long Island's purest drinking water, the finest boating and fishing pursuits, delicious wild blueberry harvesting, big game hunting, biking, equestrian, and foot treks, as you go eastward to the bays, beaches and treasures found on Long Island.
This may be a tall order to accomplish for such a modest trail center, but with help and inspiration, the Ray Corwin Parks and Trails Center will inform those seeking wilderness, a cup a tea, a pitstop, and more.
A hike and clean up will take place on Sunday, June 7th at 10 AM. Other events will be planned at the Trail Center as it and the surrounding grounds open. Location: County Road 111, Manorville (Exit 70 off LIE, turn north on east side of road). Contact LIGTC for more Details
